Combining grants for making your home more sustainable

Combining subsidies to make your home more sustainable is a smart and effective way to reduce the cost of sustainable improvements. By combining different subsidies, such as the Subsidy Scheme for Energy Saving Own Home (SEEH) and the Investment Subsidy for Renewable Energy (ISDE), you can achieve significant financial benefits when making your home more sustainable. With these subsidies you can, for example, invest in insulation, solar panels, heat pumps or other energy-saving measures. This way, you not only contribute to a better environment, but you also save on your energy bill in the long run. So it certainly pays to investigate what subsidies are available and how you can best combine them to make your home more sustainable.

900 million euros for sustainability of built environment

At the Spring Note 2024 was decided on the draft multi-year program 2025 of the climate fund. The cabinet is releasing some 900 million euros of the funds still reserved for making the built environment more sustainable.

- 212 million to continue the interest-free loans in the Heat Fund for households with incomes up to 60,000 euros in 2025
- 450 million euros for the National Insulation Program in 2025 and 2026 for the local approach by municipalities
- 167 million euros for social property sustainability such as schools and care centers. The money is intended to strengthen funding options, support and grants
- For the years 2027-2030, €1.8 billion remains reserved, particularly for ISDE subsidy.

In addition, over €1 billion has been made available from the Climate Fund to further support heat networks, through the Heat grid Investment subsidy WiS (€973 million) and a Heat Networks Guarantee Fund (over €200 million). This contributes to the affordability of newly constructed heat networks.

Finally, over €63 million is available to further support biobased building.

Final decisions will be made when the 2024 Spring Memorandum and the EZK budget are debated in the House of Representatives and Senate.

Province of Drenthe helps with nature-friendly insulation!

Are you a resident, municipality or insulation company and want to insulate a home or building? The province of Drenthe has established a method together with municipalities that makes it easier for its residents to save energy and protect animals: the pre-species management plan (pre-SMP). A Utrecht methodology that the province of Drenthe has adopted.

Protection of animals

Insulating homes frequently disturbs or kills birds or bats. If work is not done differently, many of these species are lost. The Environment Act requires that these species be protected. Before you start insulation work, therefore, research must first be done. Often these are lengthy investigations that also cost a lot of money.

To still insulate in the short term, the province offers Drenthe the pre-SMP methodology. The municipality is then granted a temporary environmental permit on the condition that the municipality immediately starts the surveys and preparation for a full-fledged species management plan. In this way, municipalities conduct ecological research for an area or the entire municipality at once. And take measures to protect species present. This eliminates the need for individual ecological research for each property.

Commissioner Egbert van Dijk: "With nature-friendly insulation, sustainability goes hand in hand with species protection. By working in a nature-friendly way, birds, bats or other species get the chance to move around before insulation is done."

Working according to the nature calendar

April through July is the maternity and breeding period of many of these building-dwelling species. During this period, protected animals should not be disturbed or driven from their habitats. The species are then unable to move without their young dying. It is therefore extra important for insulation companies to work according to the nature calendar.

So do you want to save energy and protect birds and bats? Ask your insulation company if they can insulate your home in a nature-friendly way. And contact your municipality to inquire whether they have or are preparing a (pre)- species management plan environmental permit. For more information, see the Drenthe County website.

Is it wise to make your home more sustainable?

Imagine a home that not only feels warm and comfortable, but also makes for a full wallet. It sounds almost too good to be true, right? Well, let's talk about why it's smart to make your home more sustainable now.

Grants: Your Financial Boost

Let's start with a bang: grants! Yes, you heard right. Government support that goes directly into your pockets once you decide to make your home more sustainable. This financial boost makes the investment in energy-saving measures such as a heat pump, solar panels, roof insulation, or facade insulation not only feasible, but also very attractive.

Save Money? Do the math!

Imagine a significant decrease in your monthly energy bill. That means more money in your wallet for the fun things in life. A well-insulated home with an efficient heat pump and solar panels provides a noticeable decrease in your energy costs. And let's face it, who doesn't like saving money?

Your Home: A Sustainable Paradise

Becoming more sustainable is not only good for your wallet, but also for the planet. With a home battery save the generated energy of your solar panels up for later use. This means you are less dependent on the energy grid and reduce your carbon footprint. A win-win situation!

Comfortable Living, Day in Day Out

Last but not least, let's talk about comfort. A well-insulated house keeps the heat in during the cold months and provides cooling in the summer. No drafts, no cold spots, just pure comfort. And let's face it, who doesn't want to come home to an oasis of comfort after a long day?

Why Now Is The Perfect Moment to Make Sustainable

1. Increased Subsidies and Tax Benefits.

The government is committed to sustainable initiatives and therefore offers attractive grants and tax breaks to homeowners who make their homes more sustainable. So investing now not only means saving on your energy bill, but also taking advantage of financial support from the government.

2. Energy Prices Rising, Save Now!

Energy prices continue to rise and it doesn't look like this will change anytime soon. By making your home more sustainable, you are less dependent on these rising costs. You protect yourself from future price increases and take a step toward financial stability.

3. Higher Home Value and Marketability.

An energy-efficient home is attractive not only to you, but also to potential buyers. It increases the value of your home and makes it more attractive on the real estate market. So even if you are not planning to sell soon, it is an investment in the future.

4. Improved Comfort and Wellness

A sustainable home not only means saving money and helping the environment, it also means improved comfort for you and your family. No cold drafts in the winter, no stifling heat in the summer. Just a constant, pleasant indoor climate where it's great to be.

5. Reduce Your Ecological Footprint

We live in a time when environmental awareness is becoming increasingly important. By making your home more sustainable, you are actively contributing to a cleaner future for our planet. Every step you take toward sustainability, no matter how small, has a positive impact on the environment.

Conclusion: Your Green Future Starts Now

What are you waiting for? Now is the perfect time to transform your home into a sustainable paradise. With grants that are up for grabs, a reduction in your energy bills ahead, and an increased comfort level, there is no reason to hesitate.

Save money, reduce your carbon footprint, and enjoy the comfortable life you deserve. Take the first step toward your green future today!
