Disconnecting rainwater Laarbeek

Do you have a building in Laarbeek and want to do something for the climate? Make sure that rainwater no longer runs into the sewer (disconnection). Maybe you can get a contribution (subsidy) from the municipality and/or the water board.

Long dry or hot spells followed by heavy showers are becoming more frequent

We want to better protect Laarbeek from this and prevent flooding. But the municipality cannot do this alone. Because about 50 to 70% of the land in built-up area belongs to residents. By collecting rainwater on your own property, you help.

Why disconnect stormwater from the sewer system?

  • Rainwater is clean; it is a waste to mix it with dirty sewage.
  • Less chance of water in the street and flooding in the home and neighborhood.
  • It saves energy because the water no longer needs to be pumped and cleaned.
  • Combats desiccation by sinking water into the soil.
  • Good for plants and animals in the streams because less dirty water flows from the sewers into the streams.
  • Less chance of streams overflowing.

How does stormwater disconnection work?

  • Rainwater no longer goes to the public sewer. For example, by cutting downspouts.
  • Water runs into a lowering or ditch in the garden, or into underground infiltration crates or gravel boxes.
  • The water sinks into the soil.

Examples can be found at www.riool.info and www.huisjeboompjebeter.nl

What are the conditions for a contribution?

  • Work has not yet begun.
  • The roof area to be disconnected is within the municipality of Laarbeek.
  • A minimum of 15 m2 and a maximum of 1,000 m2 of contiguous roof area will be disconnected.
  • Rainwater from the disconnected roof area will be collected on-site, in a water storage area to be constructed.
  • The water storage can hold a minimum of 30 liters of rainwater per m2 of disconnected roof area.
  • Collected water is infiltrated or delayed runoff on private property.
  • If there is an infiltration facility, its bottom is above the mean highest groundwater level (GHG).
  • When stormwater is discharged underground to an infiltration facility, all downspouts will have a leaf collector and a sand trap will be installed.
  • The water storage is designed to reduce peak discharges and not cause a nuisance to adjacent parcels.
  • The water storage facility may have an overflow facility for stormwater runoff during heavy showers when the facility is full. If possible, this overflow facility shall be above ground level.
  • You must be able to visibly or accessibly check that water storage is working.
  • The water storage must be drained within 5 days (at a maximum of 2 millimeters of precipitation per 24 hours).
  • Only building owners (or someone authorized by an owner) can apply for a contribution.

The contribution is for:

  • buildings in the municipality of Laarbeek at least 5 years old
  • where rainwater is legally discharged to the public sewer system without delayed discharge
  • and the public sewer system drains stormwater to the sewage treatment plant

The contribution is not for:

  • Buildings connected to separate sewers (Strijp, Beekse Akkers, Hoge Regt, Revershof, Nieuwenhof-Noord, Hooge Suute, etc.).
  • Buildings connected to the pressure sewer system (outdoor area).
  • Roofs that have already been disconnected. As with projects in Wilhelminastraat (Aarle-Rixtel), Nachtegaallaan, 't Hof (Beek en Donk), Dorpsstraat, Kuiperstraat, Papenhoef (Lieshout) and Bernadettestraat (Mariahout).
  • A rain barrel.

How do you apply for a contribution?

  • Click here to apply for an incentive grant digitally.
  • We review applications in order of receipt.
  • We will let you know whether or not you will receive a contribution.
  • You will carry out the work within 6 months of being awarded the contribution.
  • Within 6 weeks after execution of the work you ask for the amount to be paid. In doing so, you also provide evidence (including photographs) of the execution.
  • We make a decision (possibly after verification) about paying the contribution.

How much money is there?

The incentive contribution is € 2.50 per m2 of disconnected roof area, with a maximum of € 2,500 per application. There is a maximum budget (grant ceiling) per calendar year. In 2020 this is € 25,000,-In the first 9 months of the year, 60% (€ 15,000,-) of the budget is reserved for applications from owners who are not legal entities. Such as companies, foundations, etc.). With the exception of Owner Associations (VvEs). When the maximum budget has been allocated, we refuse applications for the current calendar year.

Subsidy Water Board Aa and Maas

Waterschap Aa en Maas also has a subsidy for climate measures. The schemes of the municipality of Laarbeek and Waterschap Aa en Maas are stackable. That means you can get a subsidy from both the municipality and the water board!
More information can be found at the website of water board Aa and Maas

Disconnecting rainwater Soest

Rainwater is usually very clean. It does not need to flow into the sewer system. In fact, clean rainwater in the sewer makes it more difficult to treat the dirty water. That is why the municipality of Soest is constructing special large facilities. With these we want to keep rainwater out of the sewers and let it sink back into the soil. This is called disconnecting rainwater.

Will you also participate?

You can also disconnect rainwater yourself. The rainwater from your roof or terrace is then disconnected to a storage tank in your garden. You then use this water for your plants or to flush the toilet, for example.

Will you help keep clean rainwater from draining into the mixed sewer system? Then you can get a grant from us for the construction costs.

Terms

You can get a grant if:

  • You own or use the paved surface you want to disconnect. For example, your roof, patio or driveway.
  • It is an existing building or existing, closed pavement within the municipality of Soest.
  • The roof and/or pavement currently drains stormwater into the mixed sewer system.
  • The disconnection has not yet happened.
  • You are not causing a nuisance to adjacent parcels of land
  • The area to be disconnected is clean and at least 20 square meters in size.

Do you have less than 20 square meters to disconnect? Do you know which drainpipe you want to cut through and do you live in the municipality of Soest? Then request a free disconnection kit by phone through the Water Policy Advisor.

Level of subsidy

The subsidy scheme reimburses construction costs up to a maximum of 10 euros per square meter. The subsidy budget for 2024 is 200,000 euros.

Disconnecting rainwater Deventer

Rainwater is clean water that we can put to good use for our house and garden plants and to prevent dehydration. It is therefore unfortunate that much rainwater still disappears through the drainpipe into the sewer and mixes with polluted water. If your house or business premises are connected to the public mixed sewer system, you can disconnect your downspout from the sewer system. You can apply for a grant for this. Is it a newly built house or building? Then your building is probably already disconnected from the sewer system and you cannot get a subsidy.

Disconnecting rainwater Alphen-Chaam

By disconnecting your downspout, you ensure that (part of) the rainwater is collected in your garden or in infiltration crates underground.

Homeowner or tenant:

For this durable facility, you will be reimbursed 25% of the cost with a maximum of €1,500.

Organization:

For this durable facility, you will be reimbursed 25% of the cost with a maximum of €3,500.

Disconnecting rainwater Assen

To make the municipality of Assen more sustainable, you can get a subsidy to disconnect rainwater. In Assen, in many places rainwater flows through the gutter and downspout or through the pavement and gullies directly into the sewer. This rainwater, which is relatively clean, can also be used to drain into the ground. As rainwater flows into the sewer system, the sewer system becomes overloaded during heavy showers. This causes flooding in the streets.

Climate change is causing more frequent heavy rainfall and long periods of drought, both especially in summer. Allowing water to enter the ground in suitable areas with sandy soils is good for groundwater levels during dry periods. Where, due to the presence of a shallow loam layer, the soil is not suitable for rainwater to run into the ground, we recommend that rainwater be run directly into the soil.

For whom.

The grant is intended for individuals, companies and institutions.
Rainwater disconnection has been mandatory for new construction homes since Jan. 1, 2008.

When available?

You can submit your application until December 31, 2024.

Amount of subsidy

The amount of the subsidy depends on the size of the disconnected or removed paved surface, see table below.
