Subsidy Scheme for Sustainability and Maintenance of Rental Housing (SVOH).
Landlords can receive subsidies for making their rental properties more sustainable. The Subsidy Scheme for Sustainability and Maintenance of Rental Housing (SVOH) is for insulation, sustainable heating and ventilation.
Terms
- The property is an existing home (no new construction) and is intended for rental.
- The rental property was rented before the measures were implemented.
- The work was performed no more than 12 months ago.
- The subsidy is a maximum of €10,000 per home. Are you installing a heat pump or solar water heater? Then the maximum is €15,000.
What do you receive funding for?
- Insulated glass and new window frames.
- Roof, wall, cavity wall, floor and bottom insulation.
- Heat pump or solar water heater.
- Energy efficient ventilation system.
- Energy advice (only in conjunction with sustainability measures)
Subsidy for insulating glazing
The SVOH scheme allows landlords to receive subsidies for insulating glass.
If you combine glass insulation (within 12 months) with roof, wall, cavity wall, or floor insulation, a heat pump or solar water heater, then you qualify for the higher subsidy amount.
Measure | Grant amount at 1 measure | Grant amount when > 2 measures |
HR++ glass | €25.00 per m2 | € 50.00 per m2 |
New window frames with HR++ glass | € 125.00 per m2 | € 125.00 per m2 |
New window frames with triple glazing | € 111.00 per m2 | € 222.00 per m2 |
Vacuum glass | €25.00 per m2 | € 50.00 per m2 |
Subsidy for insulation measures
The SVOH scheme allows landlords to receive subsidies for insulation measures. If you combine multiple insulation measures, a heat pump or solar water heater, you are eligible for the higher subsidy amount.
- Minimum area requirements apply: for facade and cavity wall insulation this is 10m2 per dwelling. For roof and floor insulation, a minimum of 70% of the total roof or floor area of the building must be insulated.
- It is not possible to apply for subsidies more than once for the same insulation measure.
Measure | Grant amount at 1 measure | Grant amount when > 2 measures |
Cavity wall insulation | €5.25 per m2 | €10.50 per m2 |
Façade insulation | €20.25 per m2 | €40.50 per m2 |
Roof insulation | €16.25 per m2 | €32.50 per m2 |
€4.00 per m2 | €8.00 per m2 | |
Floor insulation | €5.50 per m2 | €11.00 per m2 |
Bottom insulation | €3.00 per m2 | €6.00 per m2 |
Subsidy for a heat pump or solar water heater
VvEs can apply for a subsidy to install a heat pump or solar water heater for sustainable heating. The subsidy amount is calculated based on the capacity of the installation. Typically, the subsidy is between 20 and 30% of the cost.
Type of heat pump/solar water heater | Indicative grant amount |
Hybrid heat pump | € 1.750 – € 2.500 |
All-electric air-water | € 2.250 – € 3.500 |
All-electric ground-mounted | € 3.500 – €6.500 |
Heat pump boiler | ± € 750 |
Solar water heater | € 500 – € 1.750 |
Subsidy for a ventilation system
Grants are available for two types of ventilation systems and ventilation box replacement:
Measure | Grant |
C02-controlled ventilation | 30% of the costs (max. €1,200) |
Balanced ventilation with WTW | 30% of the costs (max. €1,200) |
Replacing ventilation box | € 150 per property |
Grant for an energy consultation
Grants are available to perform an energy consultation, but only in conjunction with at least one sustainability measure.
Number of dwellings | Grant |
1 to 4 dwellings | 75% of the costs (max. €400) |
5 to 8 dwellings | 75% of the costs (max. €800) |
More than 8 homes | 75% of the costs (max. €2,560) |
How much subsidy will you receive?
You will receive a maximum subsidy of € 10,000 per home. If you also install a solar water heater or heat pump, this maximum is € 15,000.
Note: Do you own a monumental rental property? Then different subsidy amounts and conditions apply to you. You can read more about this at SVOH for monumental rental properties.
