Subsidy green roofs Soest

A green roof is a layer of plants on your roof. Suitable plants for a green roof are low-growing (succulent) plants, mosses and herbs. A green roof is not a roof terrace; it is only accessible for maintenance.

Because of the positive effects on the environment, we encourage the construction of green roofs with a grant. It is possible for private owners, owners' associations, housing associations and companies To apply for grants for buildings in Soest.

Environmental benefits

  • Green roofs retain more rainwater. As a result, less clean rainwater washes into the sewer system.
  • Green roofs increase the biodiversity of your environment.
  • Green roofs have an insulating effect. This keeps your home/business cooler in the summer and warmer in the winter.
  • Green roofs make your roof last longer because sun and fluctuations in temperature have less influence.
  • Green roofs have a positive effect on the efficiency of solar panels. The performance of a solar panel is less when the panel gets hot from the sun. Through evaporation, the plants lower the temperature around the panels.

Conditions for subsidy

The roof must meet the following conditions:

  • The roof must be larger than 6 square meters.
  • The green roof may not yet be constructed at the time of application.
  • You must maintain the green roof for at least 10 years.
  • The roof is accessible for maintenance. The building itself must be accessible to people (for example, a cow barn, but not a dog house).
  • Does it involve a monument? Then there is a environmental permit needed.

Level of subsidy

The subsidy scheme reimburses 33 percent of the installation cost of the green roof layer with a maximum of EUR 30 per square meter and a maximum of EUR 20,000 per building.

The grant budget for 2023 is 200,000 euros. If the grant ceiling is reached, or approaching, we will mention it here.

Structural calculation

It is your own responsibility to check load, bearing capacity and roof pitch (or have them checked). Do you have any doubts? Get advice from the supplier or a structural engineer. Do you want to be sure that your roof has sufficient load capacity? Then have a structural calculation performed by a qualified structural engineer. The municipality reimburses the cost of a structural calculation up to a maximum of 200 euros.

Green roofs and facades grant Deventer

As a tenant or property owner, do you want to install a green roof or green facade? If so, you may be eligible for a municipal grant. Is it a new property (built in 2020 or later)? Then there is no grant available for your property.
